These are the Benefits of Going Green NOW:

Rebates and Tax Credits: Most electric car owners in the neighborhood are aware of the $7500 Federal tax credit for purchasing an EV. Additionally, did you know that the state of California sends a rebate check for $2500?

The federal tax credit is received in full for the first 200,000 cars purchased from each manufacturer. Currently, the only manufacturer that this affects is Tesla. By the end of 2017, they expect to have sold about 180,000 cars in the US. Sometime in early 2018, they’ll reach the 200,000 car threshold. The following quarter, the federal credit begins to phase out. First dropping in half, then to 25% and finally going away entirely.

Top 3 Reasons to go solar Now!

As a solar advocate, of course I’m always going to say it’s a good time to go solar, but there actually are larger forces acting to make it more important than ever to consider solar.

1) The Federal tax credit: Currently, it’s set to remain at 30% (a direct reduction of 30% of system price from your taxes) through 2019. After that it steps down to 26% in 2020, 22% in 2021, and it disappears completely in 2022. The tax credit is the most known of the three reasons to go solar now as it has the most immediate effect on your wallet and the future changes are known. The remaining two reasons are less known as they happen in the ‘black box’ of utility rates and solar regulations.

The Chevy Bolt, and the Tesla 3 coming in just a few weeks (it was just announced on July 3rd), are the forerunners ... but most of the major auto manufacturers are not far behind with their electric car offerings.
